Kevin Meyers - Senior Pastor

Pastoral Experience
Prior to our two congregations merging in January of 2007, I was the founding pastor of the Hilliard Community Church. We developed a leadership group from Grove City Nazarene in 1999, and had our opening worship service on March 26 of 2000. That was my first formal ministry position.

About Me
I am from Ironton, Ohio where my parents still reside. I am married to my high school love, Jenny, who graduated from high school with me. She teaches Spanish at Hilliard Bradley High School, and we have two awesome children. Will is a crazy man, and Jasmine is our little sweetheart.

Education
1991 – Graduate of Ironton High School
1995 – Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a Psychology Minor – Mount Vernon Nazarene College
1999 – Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Missions – Nazarene Theological Seminary

Hobbies
I wish I had a little more depth, but the truth is I’m a typical sports guy. I love watching Buckeye football and basketball – even following recruiting for both. Fantasy football is a big thrill for me, and I am currently one of the three two time Super Bowl winners in our church league. Even though my age is catching up to me, I continue to love playing basketball. I try to play open gym basketball once a week.

Music
I love praise and worship music, and I love singing praise songs as I am led in worship by Kurt and our praise band. I experience deep intimacy with the Lord as I sing praises to Him. My two favorite worship leaders in the world are Kurt Bosworth and Matt Redman.

Books
I’m not the reader that many of my colleagues are. My favorite books to study are my biblical commentaries. During sermon preparation, I really enjoy digging into my commentaries.
“Spiritual Leadership” by J. Oswald Sanders has made an impact on my life.

TV / Movies
I’m a huge “Lord of the Rings” fan. I also enjoy many of the super hero movies and cartoons. Although I’m growing weary of it lately, I have sort of been an American Idol nerd for a few years. I guess that shouldn’t be a total shock seeing as how I’m also into karaoke. Every time I break out the karaoke machine, my kids start to cry and my wife gets mad. You would think that would be a deterrent, but not as of yet.

What do you want to be remembered for?
I want Jenny and our children to understand how much I love them. I want to be known for having a passion for the Lord that is evident and contagious. I want to worship God in a way that is genuine and meaningful in his eyes.
