Pastoral Experience
Prior to our two congregations merging in January of 2007, I was the founding pastor of the Hilliard Community Church. We developed a leadership group from Grove City Nazarene in 1999, and had our opening worship service on March 26 of 2000. That was my first formal ministry position.
About MeI am from Ironton, Ohio where my parents still reside. I am married to my high school love, Jenny, who graduated from high school with me. She teaches Spanish at Hilliard Bradley High School, and we have two awesome children. Will was born in 2003 and Jasmine in 2005.
Education
1991 - Graduate of Ironton High School
1995 - Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a Psychology Minor - Mount Vernon Nazarene Collage
1999 - Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Missions - Nazarene Thelogical Seminary
I love watching Buckeye football and basketball - even following recruiting for both. Even though my age is catching up to me, I continue to love playing basketball and I have enjoyed all the friendships I have developed through playing ball over the past many years. Our family bought a tent and started camping and fishing last year.
MusicI love praise and worship music, and I love singing praise songs as I am led in worship by Kurt and our praise band. I experience deep intimacy with the Lord as I sing praises to Him. My two favorite worship leaders in the world are Kurt Bosworth and Matt Redman.
BooksI'm not the reader that many of my colleagues are. My favorite books to study are my biblical commentaries. During sermon preparation, I really enjoy digging into my commentaries. 'Crazy Love' by Francis Chan definitely impacted me. One of the guys in the church got me started reading some comic books a few years ago. I know 'Nerd alert'. I like the 'New Avengers'. series and I enjoyed 'Planet Hulk' quite a bit.
TV/MoviesI'm a huge 'Lord of the Rings' fan. I have watched these movies multiple times. I have still never read the books. My plan was to become the guy who knew the most about Lord of the Rings without ever reading the books. In 'Return of the King'. I was one of the only people in the theater who didn't know if Frodo would make it or not. Again - Nerd alert.
What do you want to be remembered for?I want Jenny, Will, and Jasmine to understand how much I love them. I want to be known for having a passion for the Lord that is evident and contagious. I want to worship God in a way that is genuine and meaningful in his eyes. I really hope I can make a difference in this world for God.
